County of Prince Edward issued the following announcement on Aug. 5
"The Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus is now dominant in Virginia and in Prince Edward County and is driving an increase in COVID cases. All areas of Virginia are seeing case growth. Evidence is building that the Delta variant causes a more severe disease, adding to the threat posed by its increased transmissiblity. Additionally, the Delta variant is more capable of causing breakthrough infections in fully vaccinated individuals, who can then transmit to unvaccinated individuals. While vaccines are our best defense against the Delta variant, masking and social distancing remain effective ways to protect ourselves, our families and our community.
Based on this information, effective Monday, August 9, 2021 this updated policy will take effect for the Prince Edward County Courthouse and all other Prince Edward County governmental facilities and operations.
