Tire Amnesty 2021

38

Amelia County issued the following announcement on Nov. 12

Amelia County 9th grade students will be recycling old tires at the Maplewood Landfill on Friday, November 19th, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am as a day of service to their community. The high school has organized various service projects on this day with the goal of involving the students in the community and to have them realize the value of service.

County residents will be allowed to bring in up to 8 tires per vehicle/household to this recycling event.

We cannot accept oversize tires such as tractor, or tractor trailer tires or any tires from businesses or commercial operations. We can accept tires on rims.

Everyone bringing tires to the recycling event will be required to show identification that they are a resident of Amelia County. Please do not leave any tires at the front public access area of the landfill where the trash bins are located. Proceed through the landfill gate, bear right and look for the tractor trailers and workers stationed between the landfill scalehouse and railroad tracks.

Although whole tires are prohibited from disposal at the landfill and the county convenience centers, if tires are split or cut in half, they can be disposed of at the landfill at no charge.

We encourage everyone to take advantage of this event designed to rid our county of an unsightly environmental hazard.

We ask for everyone’s understanding and cooperation in this recycling event. Contact us at 561-3004 or 561-3039 if you have any questions about this upcoming event.

PLEASE NOTE & COOPERATE:

NO MORE THAN 8 TIRES

PER VEHICLE/HOUSEHOLD WILL BE ACCEPTED!!
