Town of Clarksville issued the following announcement on Dec. 1
The Town Council of the Town of Clarksville will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 6:30 PM at the Town Hall located at 321 Virginia Avenue in Clarksville, VA to receive public input on proposed amendments to the Charter of the Town of Clarksville. The amendments relate to Senate Bill 1157 which was passed by the Virginia General Assembly during the 2021 Special Session I. This action requires changing municipal elections from May to November. The current charter language reflects elections in May, the election of a Vice-Mayor in July following an election and details when the newly elected Town Council can handle salary changes for the Town Council and Mayor.
Please see the below listed attachments for details on the amendments. Any person wishing to comment may do so at the Public Hearing or provide written comments to the Town Manager at P.O. Box 1147, Clarksville, Va. 23927 or by email at townmanager@clarksvilleva.org by 2:00 p.m. on December 20th, 2021 . For questions, please contact the Town Manager at 434-374-8177 or by email at townmanager@clarksvilleva.org.
Thanks.
