County of Prince Edward recently issued the following announcement.
CenturyLink is the primary telephone service provider for much of Prince Edward County and the Town of Farmville, and also provides internet services. In recent years, the County has received numerous calls regarding CenturyLink telephone or internet service issues including dropped calls, intermittent internet outages, or loss of service.
CenturyLink is currently seeking permission from the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) to transfer its assets to Connect Holding, LLC. (SCC Case # PUR-2021-00246).
Right now, you have the opportunity to provide comments to the State Corporation Commission on the lack of service, lack of maintenance, and lack of investment in the infrastructure in Prince Edward County and Rural Virginia as a whole. This is your chance to have the issues you have experienced heard and addressed. The deadline to provide comments or sign up to speak at the hearing is February 16th.
