VDOT COMPLETES SECOND ROAD PROJECT IN U.S. 15 CORRIDOR
Prince Edward County Board Chair, Odessa Pride, Ed.D., Farmville District 1 Supervisor, Peter Gur, Ph.D., and County Administrator Doug Stanley joined state officials and representatives of VDOT for Monday’s ribbon cutting marking the completion of the two VDOT Smart Scale projects along the U.S. 15 corridor. The Worsham intersection improvements included turn lanes and pavement markings. The Kingsville intersection became the first traffic circle in the County.
“One of the primary reasons the Board of Supervisors submitted these projects and VDOT funded them is safety. Historically, there was a significant accident history at both intersections,” commented Doug Stanley. “The improvements at Worsham have already proven themselves with fewer accidents at that intersection. As we know, the most substantial benefits of roundabouts are the lower speeds and the one-direction movement, which virtually eliminates the chance for head-on and T-bone crashes.”
