Planning Commission Public Hearings

The Cumberland County Planning Commission will meet on Monday, January 9, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in the Circuit Courtroom of Cumberland County in Cumberland, Virginia, to conduct public hearings pursuant to Virginia Code Section 15.2-2204, which such hearings may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, and to consider the following items and taking actions in furtherance thereof:Code Amendment (CA) 22-03: Short-Term Rental Dwelling Units – Proposes to amend chapter 74 of the Cumberland County Code to add new and revise existing definitions regarding short-term rental dwellings, both hosted and unhosted, and create an ordinance regulating the operation of such short-term rental dwelling units.Code Amendment (CA) 22-05: Business Personal Property – Proposes to amend chapter 58 of the Cumberland County Code to include a state code reference regarding the general classification of tangible personal property. Conditional Use Permit (CUP) 22-03: Anna’s Puppies – A conditional use permit request to allow the operation of a commercial kennel.   The property is located at 69 Amos Road, and is described as Tax Map number 82-A-24C, in Election District 4.   The acreage requested to be covered by the conditional use permit is 4.5-acres of total 93.085-acres.  The parcel is zoned A-2, Agricultural and is not in a growth area in the Comprehensive Plan. Conditional Use Permit (CUP) 22-15: Denaro Christmas Tree Farm – A conditional use permit request to allow the operation of a Christmas Tree Farm on property zoned A-2/R-1.  The property is located near 21 Churchview Estates and is described as Tax Map number 104-A-162, in Election District 5.  The parcel is zoned A-2, Agricultural and R-2 Residential, and is located in the High Intensity Farmville Growth Area as designated in the Comprehensive Plan. A Copy of the development applications and ordinance amendments are available for public review at the office of the Cumberland County Planning Department, County Administration Building, 1 Courthouse Circle, Cumberland, Virginia between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm of each business day.  The public is invited to attend these hearings at which persons affected may appear and present their views orally or in writing. Questions or comments may be directed to the Planning Department, at (804) 492-3520.  Persons with disabilities are urged to contact the County Administrator’s Office at (804) 492-3625 at least five (5) days prior to the meeting to arrange for any necessary accommodations.
