Charles E. Jones, the current District 9 member of the Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors, has received a key endorsement in his re-election bid. RED PAC, a political action committee, has chosen to endorse Jones based on his fiscal responsibility, commitment to private property rights, advocacy for rural economic development, and dedication to government transparency.

According to SoVaNow.com, Mecklenburg County will be holding elections on Tuesday, Nov. 7, which includes the Board of Supervisors elections for all nine districts. The terms for these positions are four years.

Jones, who is running as an Independent, is seeking re-election to represent District 9 on the Board of Supervisors. During his first term, his top priority was improving education and school facilities. He plans to continue focusing on education and workforce development in his second term, aiming to make the region attractive to businesses and young people. Jones is also concerned about the drug addiction problem and believes that more local treatment facilities could help address the issue.

In a release announcing the group's endorsement of Jones, and other candidates throughout Virginia, Kevin Gardner, Executive Director of RED PAC said "these candidates embody core conservative principles. Their unwavering commitment to transparency, fiscal prudence, and local economic advancement will surely benefit their constituencies."

Prior to serving on the Board of Supervisors, Jones served on the Clarksville Town Council from 1998 to 2008. He has also served on the Clarksville Economic Development authority for 25 years. For the past eight years, he has been raising his great-grandson, who has inspired him to want "to make Mecklenburg County a great place for families raising their children."

The Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors is responsible for various tasks, including adopting the annual budget, enforcing ordinances, levying county taxes, appointing certain county officials, and appointing members to different boards and commissions.

With the endorsement from RED PAC, Charles E. Jones hopes to secure another term on the Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors and continue his work in serving the community.
