Census Bureau: 2.5% of people in Charlotte County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 11,605 citizens living in Charlotte County in 2021, 97.5% said they were only one race, while 2.5% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Charlotte County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 70% or 8,122 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 26.8% and totaled 3,105 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Charlotte County is 3.4% lower than the state average, which stands at 5.9%.
