Mecklenburg County schools welcomed 213 pre-kindergarten students in 2023-24 school year

There were 213 pre-kindergarten students enrolled in Mecklenburg County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 1.8% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

The school that enrolled the largest number of pre-kindergarten students in the county was South Hill Elementary School.

Within Mecklenburg County schools, the largest number of students were found in 9th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Mecklenburg County ranked 64th in enrollment numbers. It was also ranked 64th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
