Amelia County schools welcomed 129 1st-grade students in 2023-24 school year

There were 129 1st-grade students enrolled in Amelia County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 3.2% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Amelia County Elementary School was the only school that welcomed 1st-grade students in the county.

Within Amelia County schools, the largest number of students were found in 10th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Amelia County ranked 103rd in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 104th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
