1,582 students enrolled in Lunenburg County schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 1,582 students enrolled in Lunenburg County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 0.4% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Lunenburg County comprised 53.7% boys, with girls representing the remaining 46.3%.

Data also showed that white students made up 46.8% of the student body, the largest percentage in Lunenburg County schools, followed by Black or African American students with 31.9%, 15.7% Hispanic students and 0.3% American Indian or Alaskan Native students.

Central High School had the highest enrollment among Lunenburg County's four schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 490 students.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
