In recognition of Juneteenth, Surry County has announced that all sanitation sites will close earlier than usual. On Thursday, June 19, 2025, these facilities will shut their doors at 4 PM.
The county urges residents to plan their waste disposal activities accordingly. Regular operating hours will recommence the following day, Friday, June 20, 2025.
“All Surry County Sanitation Sites will close early at 4PM on Thursday, June 19, 2025,” stated a county representative. “We appreciate your understanding and encourage residents to plan accordingly.”
This temporary change is part of the observance of Juneteenth, which marks a significant date in American history.
