Elijah Swett Named To D3football.com Team Of The Week

Hampden-Sydney College freshman placekicker Elijah Swett (Matthews, NC) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for games played the weekend of October 21-22. Swett was selected for his outstanding efforts during a thrilling 44-43 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) overtime road win at Washington and Lee University.

Swett was 3-3 on field goals and 3-4 on PAT attempts, including the decisive PAT kick at W&L on Oct. 22. He kicked a 42-yard field goal on the final play of regulation to force the OT at 37-37, and kicked a collegiate-best 45-yard field goal with no time on the clock before halftime (defensive penalty) tying the contest at 17-17, while adding a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for a 34-23 advantage. The 45-yarder was the first official field goal of his collegiate career (a successful 24-yarder in the second quarter involved a defensive penalty resulting in a first down and eventual touchdown). Elijah is 10-12 on PATs, and 3-3 on field goals this season after taking over the placekicking duties at Ferrum on Oct. 8, while handling the kickoff duties all season and averaging 54.5 yards on 35 kickoffs with three touchbacks.

H-SC returns home to welcome ODAC member Guilford (NC) College on Saturday, October 29, at 1 p.m. on Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium. It'll be Homecoming Weekend on the Hill for the Tigers.
