Hampden-Sydney Finishes Day One At The Yellow Jacket Invitational

The Hampden-Sydney College swim team finished the first two sessions of the two day, Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College, Saturday afternoon and night at SwimRVA.

H-SC had two teams competing in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the first team of senior Braxton Psuik (Glen Allen), junior Patrick Duffy (Charlotte, NC), and sophomores Matt Brooks (Springfield), and Cody Carnes (Hartfield), placed 10th with a time of 1:32.59. The second team behind them consisted of, sophomore Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria), sophomore Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA), sophomore Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), and senior Andrew Rehak (Radford), finished with a  time of 1:37.21 which was enough for 13th place.

Hardimon took home the top finish for the Tigers in the 500 Yard Freestyle, with a 24th place finish with his time of 5:20.11. Brooks finished in 27th with a time of 5:45.09 and in 30th place was Renfrow with a time of 6:13.50.

Rehak was the lone Tiger competing in the 200 Yard IM finishing in a time of 2:13.83 which was good for 25th.

Psuik grabbed a top 10 finish for H-SC in the 50 Yard Freestyle, with a 10th place finish with his time of 22.50 seconds. Carnes was four places behind in 14th with a time of 22.78 seconds, Duffy and sophomore Charles Adams (Mechanicsville) finished 34th and 35th respectively with times of 24.84 and 25.53 seconds.

The final event saw the Tigers take a 10th place finish in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, as the foursome of Rehak, Renfrow, Carnes and Psuik, finished with a combined time of 3:56.55.

The Tigers will be back in action for day two of the Yellow Jacket Invitational Sunday December 4, at 10 a.m.
