115 2nd-grade students enrolled in Buckingham County schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 115 2nd-grade students enrolled in Buckingham County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 8% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Buckingham County Primary School was the only school that welcomed 2nd-grade students in the county.

Within Buckingham County schools, the largest number of students were found in 9th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Buckingham County ranked 95th in enrollment numbers. It was also ranked 95th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
