Prince Edward County schools welcomed 147 3rd-grade students in 2023-24 school year

There were 147 3rd-grade students enrolled in Prince Edward County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 5.8% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Prince Edward Elementary School was the only school that welcomed 3rd-grade students in the county.

Within Prince Edward County schools, the largest number of students were found in 9th-grade, while 11th-grade had the least students.

Statewide, Prince Edward County ranked 98th in enrollment numbers. It was also ranked 98th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
