2023-24 School Year Enrollment: 83 8th-grade students welcomed in Cumberland County schools

There were 83 8th-grade students enrolled in Cumberland County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 8.8% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Cumberland Middle School was the only school that welcomed 8th-grade students in the county.

Within Cumberland County schools, the largest number of students were found in 4th-grade, while kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Cumberland County ranked 113th in enrollment numbers. It was also ranked 113th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
