Buckingham County Education: Fewer students enrolled in Buckingham County Public Schools District in 2023-24 school year

The only school district in Buckingham County suffered declining enrollment in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

There were 1,966 students in Buckingham County Public Schools District, 1.3% less than the year before.

Enrollment in Buckingham County was steady with the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.9% of them were male, and 48.1% were female.

Data also showed that most of the studets were white, representing 52.4% of Buckingham County Public Schools District's total enrollment.

Buckingham County Public Schools District has a main office in Buckingham and is the only school district within Buckingham County.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
