Higher student enrollment in Nottoway County Public Schools District, differing from state's trend

The only school district in Nottoway County had rising enrollment in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

There were 1,818 students in Nottoway County Public Schools District, 0.4% more than the year before.

Enrollment in Nottoway County bucked the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 50.6% of them were female, and 49.3% were male.

The most represented ethnicity among Nottoway County Public Schools District students was Black, accounting for 43.5% of the student population.

Nottoway County Public Schools District has a main office in Nottoway and is the only school district within Nottoway County.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
