Lower student enrollment in Prince Edward County Public Schools District, following state's trend

The only school district in Prince Edward County suffered declining enrollment in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

There were 1,816 students in Prince Edward County Public Schools District, 3.9% less than the year before.

Enrollment in Prince Edward County was steady with the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 53.8% of them were male, and 46.2% were female.

Data also showed that most of the studets were Black, representing 55.8% of Prince Edward County Public Schools District's total enrollment.

Prince Edward County Public Schools District has a main office in Farmville and is the only school district within Prince Edward County.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
